C&FA Training Programme

A Clearing & Forwarding Agents’ (C&FA) training programme was held at Chennai on 4 and 5 October, 2002. All the four Southern Branches, new C&FA Depot Managers as also an assistant attended the programme. Branch personnel gave presentations on Finished Goods Accounting and Collections and Service Procedures. The programme was more of a workshop and was well received by C&FA. K. Chandresekhar, Regional Manager (South), in his opening address spoke about the Company, the need for efficient, quick service in the light of the current competitive scenario as also highlighted the importance of cost control. V.S. Narasimha, Regional Commercial Manager (South), spoke on the expectations of C&FA. P.V. Manoharan, Regional Service Manager (South), spoke on categorisation and disposal of defective stocks and S.S. Batni, Senior Service Manager, Chennai Branch spoke on the requirements from C&FA with respect to Service operations.

Championing A Rural Refrigerator

The Rs.600-crore Godrej Appliances Ltd is planning to roll out a new range of frost-free refrigerators as a sub-brand to its flagship brand Godrej refrigerators in the near future. Billed ‘Champion’, the new range is targeted at the rural audience. With this move, the company is moving into a new category, informs Godrej Appliances Ltd head (sales) R. Ravi.

Prior to the formal launch, the company has already test-marketed its ‘Champion’ range in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. “And now we have plans to extend our test-marketing to cities in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, among others soon. With a smaller freezer and more storage space, Champion will be available in 165 litre capacity priced at Rs.6,790,” adds Mr. Ravi.
